Euros 450 

Container made of bamboo, covered with a finely woven bamboo slices basketry. The lid is made of wood, carved in the shape of a human head. Philippines Archipelago, Luzon Island, Ifugao Peoples. Height: 15 1/2" (39,5 cm). Nice dark-brown patina. Obvious signs of use and age, otherwise very good condition. A rare piece, collected in the mid 1970s in situ, during my 20 years stay in Asia.

Euros 175 

Small cylinder seal carved to represent two fighters holding weapons facing each other, with a pole in the middle, and a cross at the back of one of them. Black agate. Mesopotamia, Neo-Assyrian Period (730-660 B.C.). Height: 13/16" (1,7 cm). The seal is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand on which a patinated plaster imprint has been affixed. Good condition.

Small statue of a Taoist deity, in formal attire, standing on a rounded base. Wood, with traces of an original lacquering. China, Tang Dynasty. Height: 6" (15 cm). The statue is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand. Obvious signs of great age, strong erosion, otherwise good condition.

Agate seal incised to represent a human bust. A hole is pierced through for attachement to a necklace. Persia, Sassanian period (224-642). Height: 3/4" (1,8 cm). The seal is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand on which a patinated plaster imprint has been affixed. Tiny chips, otherwise good condition.

Beautifully carved butter churner guide ("Ghurra' or "neti"), decorated with a relief rope and chevron design. Wood, with fine dark-brown patina. Himalayan Region. Length: 11 1/4" (23,5 cm). The piece is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand. Obvious signs of use and age, otherwise very good condition. NOTE: the "ghurra" was collected in situ in the early 1970s, during my 20 year stay in Asia.

Very old female ibeji twin figure, with a conical coiffe, arms alongside torso, standing on a rounded base. Wood, with fine, slightly encrusted dark-brown patina. Small necklace made of tiny old glass beads around the neck. Africa, Nigeria, Yoruba Peoples. Height: 10 1/2" (26,5 cm). Chip at the base, tiny and old accidents around the coiffe, erosion, otherwise very good condition. A fine and rather unusual piece.

Repousse plaque representing Hindu God Vishnu, wearing a diadem and dhoti, standing on a lotus, holding his attributes in his four arms. Brass, with nice reddish-green patina. Nepal, 17th/18th century. Height: 9" (22,5 cm). Very good condition despite obvious signs of great age.

Ceremonial chief sword, its wood handle in the shape of a cylinder with two striated balls at each tip, its metal rounded blade decorated with pierced through geometric design. Africa, Ivory Coast, Atye People. Length: 18 3/8" (46,5 cm). The sword is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Erosion due to a long use at the handle, strong oxydization on the blade, otherwise good condition.

Beautiful 4-string lute ("saranghi"), the top in the shape of a head holds the four keys, the body itself is made of two parts of heart shape. Wood, with nice dark-brown glossy patina. The lower part is covered with animal skin affixed with tiny wood pegs. Himalaya, 19th century. Height: 22 1/4" (55,6 cm). The lute is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand.
