Important ceremonial dagger, its sheath made of wood covered with leather and decorated with shells, its iron blade with double curve shape and a slightly ribbed center, its handle made of ivory with a sculpted in-the-round ancestor statue at its top. Beautiful patina both on the ivory and the sheath, while the blade is largely oxidized. Africa, Ivory Coast, Baule Peoples. Height (altogether): 18" (45,5 cm).
