Snuff bottle of squarish shape, four sides, cylindrical neck, round base. Porcelain, with deep blue decor on white background of four different scenes showing several characters in a garden, each scene framed in floral design, the neck itself decorated with a geometric design. Four Chinese characters mark beneath (Qian Long Nian Zhe). China, early 19th century, probably earlier. Height: 2 3/4" (7 cm). Chips at base, glaze slightly eroded, otherwise good condition.

Snuff bottle of cylindrical shape, small neck, round base. Porcelain, with superbly painted blue decor on white background depicting a legendary scene with numerous mythical characters including a monkey hero, in a mountainous landscape. Several faded remnants of a red colour applied on some areas. Geometric decor around neck. Modern lapis stopper and bone spoon. China, 19th century, maybe earlier. Snuff bottle of classical rounded flat shape, nicely curved neck, decorated with a "tao tie" mask on each shoulder. Peking glass, with a nice ruby colour. Silver stopper with turquoise and coral inserts, spoon missing. China, 19th century, maybe earlier. Height (without stopper): 2 7/8" (7,3 cm). Slight erosion all over, tiny dent on one face (tiny bubble?), otherwise good condition.

A pair of superbly carved face masks used for specific rituals among some minority ethnic groups in China. The one on the left represents the face of Tudi, or Tudigong, the god of the ground and of cereals, with a large smile showing his teeth, wearing a formal cap and sporting a moustache and a beard probably made of hemp. Very old statue of unknwon god, wearing formal robes and cap, sitting on a throne. Remnants of moustache and beard under nose and chin. Wood, with traces of the original gilding and painting. China, early Ming Dynasty, most probably earlier. Height: 11 1/4" (28,5 cm). Small chips in some areas, old insect infestation (no danger), otherwise good condition.

Statue of the God of Medicine, in formal robes, standing on a squarish base and flanked by his two attributes, the lion and the dragon. Rectangular hole at the back to make room for a "votive box", lid missing but some votive documents still remaining. Wood, with remnants of lacquering and gilding. China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Height: 9 1/2" (24 cm). Hands and dragon head missing, some flaking, otherwise good condition.
