Small statue of a Taoist deity, in formal attire, standing on a rounded base. Wood, with traces of an original lacquering. China, Tang Dynasty. Height: 6" (15 cm). The statue is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand. Obvious signs of great age, strong erosion, otherwise good condition.

Nuo theater mask representing the smiling Tudigong, the god of the soil and of cereals in ancient Chinese mythology, wearing a formal cap. Wood, with traces of lacquer, fine dark patina. China, early 19th century, maybe older. Height: 11 1/4" (28,5 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Old local restorations from top to bottom, otherwise good condition.

Head of a "lohan" (or "arhat" in sanscript), his face reflecting a tense, almost suffering, expression. Wood, with traces of its original plastering and colouring, and of some polychrome pigments on the eyebrows and in the mouth. China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), maybe earlier. Height: 12 1/4" (31 cm). The head is unmounted. Obvious signs of great age, otherwise very good condition.

Finely carved head of a lohan, his very expressive face reflecting a tense meditation, with a "third eye" in the middle of his forehead. Wood, with fragments of plaster and traces of the original polychromy. China, early Ming Dynasty period (1368-1644), maybe earlier. Height: 11 1/2" (29 cm). Small pair of "tao tie" masks, each ending on the lower side in an open loop. This loop was meant to hold a ring. Each "tao tie" mask was affixed to the side of a vessel, now gone. Bronze, with fine green patina. China, Han Dynasty. Dimensions: height: 1 1/4" (3 cm), length: 1 1/2" (4 cm). The pair is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Good condition.

Small statue of Buddha in probably "abhaya mudra" (hands posture of blessing and protection), in monk's robes, sitting cross-legged on a dais. Marble. China, Tang Dynasty. Height: 8 1/2" (21,5 cm). The statue is mounted on a custom metal stand. Erosion and a few chips, right hand missing, otherwise good condition.

Large disc, perforated at its center with a conical section hole. Green jade, with beige/light brown inclusions. China, Neolithic Period. Dimensions: outside diameter: 12,3 cm, inside diameter: 4,8 cm, thickness: 5 to 7 mm. There is a kind of slanted straight dent on one side of the rim, as can be seen in a few similar pieces of this period. Several chips around the rim, otherwise good condition. NOTE; this kind of disc, commonly called "bi" disc, was supposed to symbolize Heaven.

Statue of a bodhisattva, in "lalitasana" (sitting at ease, a posture of relaxation), his face reflecting a profound inner serenity. The statue was probably made of several parts. Large statue head of a lohan, his face with a rather fierce expression. Wood. China, early Ming Dynasty period (circa 14th century). Height: 15" (39 cm). The statue head is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Obvious signs of great age, (erosion and age cracks), otherwise very good condition. A very impressive and rather rare piece.
