Small rectangular lime box made of bronze, with fine inlaid silver geometric decor. Superb dark green patina. Remnants of lime inside. Lime was used when chewing the betel nut, a social practice in ancient Asia. Philippines, Mindanao Island. Obvious signs of use and age, lid no longer attached to box (could be restored easily), inside copartments lids missing, otherwise relatively good condition. L: 4 1/4" (11 cm). A fine, rather unusual and rare piece.

Lime box of semi-cylindrical shape, with embossed decor showing a stylized lotus on top of lid and geometric ring decor at four different levels. Silver, with fine darkish patina. Laos, 19th century. Height: 5 5/8" (14,5 cm). Remnants of lime inside. Obvious signs of use and age, several tiny dents in various areas, otherwise good condition.
