Superb ring with a ram head on its top, and a leaping tiger on each side. Loop at upper side of the back. Bronze, with green, partly encrusted, patina. Iran, Luristan Culture, Ca. 9th century B.C. Dimensions: height: 3 5/16" (8,3 cm), width: 3 1/4" (8,5 cm). Very good condition despite a tiny chip at the ram's right antler. A very fine piece. Ex. old French collection.

Face mask, hair, nose and ears carved in relief, the rest of the features deeply incised, except for the pierced-through mouth which gives the mask a simian expression. Wood, with fine dark-brown glossy patina. Africa, R.D. Congo, Ngbaka Peoples. Height: 10 1/2" (26,5 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Obvious signs of use and age, otherwise very good condition.

Archer's ring, of cylindrical shape, with a flat side. Green jade, with brown inclusion on the flat side. China, Han Dynasty Period (-206/+220). Dimensions: height: 1 1/16" (2,7 cm), diameter: 1 3/16" (3,2 cm). Some tiny chips due to a long use and a great age, otherwise good condition.
NOTE: in ancient China, archer's rings were used to protect the archer's thumb against a potential wound by the bow string.

Very old "warka" mask, of elongated triangular shape, with relief forehead and eyes, very long nose, tiny mouth, ending in a pointed chin. Eyes are pierced through. Wood, with greyish patina. Africa, Mali, Bamana Peoples. Height: 14 1/2" (36 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand which enhances its strange beauty. Statue representing a "lohan" (Buddhist holy man), in monk's robes, his hands hidden in his sleeves, sitting in "bhadrasana" (so-called "european" seated posture). Wood, with remnants of the original lacquering. China, early Ming Dynasty Period (1368-1644), maybe earlier. Height: 8 1/4" (21 cm). The statue is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand. Obvious signs of use and age, right foot missing, otherwise good condition.

Round plaque ending in a point, with two sloping sides, and a mythical animal bust at the center. Two loops for attachment beneath. Bronze, with partly encrusted green patina, remnants of soil encrustation beneath. China, Han Dynasty Period (-206/+220), Ordos Culture. Dimensions: length: 4 1/2" (11,5 cm), height (at animal head level): 1 1/2" (3,5 cm). Very good condition. A rare piece.
