Statue of The Buddha, His hands in "vitarka mudra" (preaching, or didactic, posture), wearing monk's robes and sitting cross-legged on a double lotus throne. Bronze, thick encrusted patina with some reddish areas (a sign of great age), traces of the original gilding in the recesses. China, early Ming Dynasty (1368~1644 A.D.). Height: 6 7/8" (17,5cm). Fine casting, nice details, (e.g. hands, robes), good condition.

Statue of a standing male, with large head, coffee-bean eyes, triangular nose and open mouth, over cylindrical neck, elongated torso, short arms with stylized hands, relief nipples, protruding ombilic, resting on short bent legs and stylized feet. SOLD 

Divination drum, of cylindrical shape. The body of the instrument is hollowed out, and is surmounted by a nicely carved head. Wood, with fine dark-brown glossy patina. Africa, D.R. Congo (ex Zaire), Yaka Peoples. Height: 16" (41cm). Obvious signs of age and use, tiny chips in some areas, erosion all over, otherwise very good condition.

SOLD 

Cylinder seal with carved design of a standing human in robes, in front of two vertically-oriented deers facing each other, themselves backed by two superimposed large stylized bull heads. Black stone, excellent condition. Height: 14/16" (2,3cm). Mesopotamia, Neo-Assyrian period (late), circa 730~600 B.C. The piece is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand to which is affixed a patinated plaster imprint of the seal design.

Statue of Kuan Yin,the Chinese Goddess of Mercy, wearing a diadem (on which a tiny Amithaba Buddha is shown at the center) and formal robes, sitting cross-legged, in "abhaya and varada mudra" (hands posture of blessing, protection and charity). Bronze, with large remnants of the original gilding and polychrome colouring. Dark-green thick patina appears in areas where the gilding is eroded. China, Ming Dynasty (1368~1644 A.D.). Sword guard ("tsuba"), of lobed shape. Relief decor on the obverse showing a fisherman in a boat on a lake, with a basket containing fish beside him, lifting his net from the water, while, in the background, the snowy top of Mount Fuji is seen. Blowgun quiver, with a cylinder darts container made of bamboo, linked to its lid by a rope, and a kind of long hook (to attach the quiver to the hunter's sash) made of wood, with a fine decoration of a wild boar on its top. The hook is attached to the container with three finely woven wicker rings. This quiver is coming from Palawan Island, South West of the Philipino Archipelago, and belonged to a member of a tribe that is now protected by the Philipino Government. Anthropomorphic figure, with typically styled head and coiffe, a long neck and short, slightly bent legs resting on small feet. At mid level, a fabric pouch containing fetish material. Wood, with dark-brown semi-glossy patina, and stained and patinated fabric. Belt hook with a stylized dragon head at its top. Bronze, with green,partly encrusted, patina and traces of fabric embedded in the bronze oxidization on the front lower part. China, Warring States Period (475~221 B.C.). Height: 3 11/16" (9,5 cm). The piece is nicely mounted on a custom plexi stand. Very good condition.
