Face mask of unusual shape, with protruding forehead, large elongated eyes, long nose in relief, triangular open mouth showing teeth. Numerous holes around the face were meant to allow the insertion of animal hair to represent moustache and beard. Wood, with dark-brown semi-glossy patina. Nepal, 19th century. Height: 10 1/2" (26,5 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Obvious signs of old age, some teeth missing, otherwise good condition. Ex. old European collection.

Face mask of circular shape, coffee-bean shaped eyes, with a long beak at the lower part. Wood, dark-brown and reddish patina. Africa, Ivory Coast, Dan/Mano Peoples. Height: 12" (30,5 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Erosion and signs of long use, otherwise good condition.

Old "phumbu" face mask, of typical triangular shape, with large and low lids, pointed nose, open mouth showing teeth and tiny ears. Wood, with large remnants of red, white and black pigments. A raffia triple coiffe, now gone, was attached to the top, and a raffia beard, also missing, was formerly attached around the chin. Africa, D.R. Congo, Pende Peoples. Height: 9 1/2" (25 cm). Superbly decorated very old bear skull, with typically Dayak incised designs all over its upper part. Beautiful partly encrusted patina. Indonesia, Borneo Island, Dayak Peoples. Length: 9" (22,7 cm), height: 3 1/4" (8,2 cm). Lower jaw and and a few teeth missing, though these factors do not impair the rarity and beauty of the piece, otherwise very good condition. A very rare ethnographic artifact.

Unusual fetish necklace with, as a pendant, a monkey skull held with colored string and affixed to two large boar teeth, the necklace part being made of tiny old colored glass pearls and red textile with two boar teeth at its end. Typical "zakpai" mask, with circular eyes, protruding mouth with animal teeth. Red cloth and metal circles around the eyes, and red cloth also on the upper lip. Beard made of rope affixed under the chin. The mask itself is made of wood with a nice partly encrusted patina. Africa, Ivory Coast, Dan Peoples. Height: 9 1/4" (23,7 cm).
