Pestle, or tapper, surmounted by a head with a three-lobed coiffe, triangular face with large open eyes, small nose and ears, scarifications on temples and cheeks, pointed chin. Small and old string necklace with yellow old glass beads around neck, and small hole at back of head for attachment. Wood, with fine brown glossy patina. Africa, Ivory Coast, Baule Peoples. Unusual face mask of elongated shape, round pierced through eyes, long and thin nose, open mouth in relief, small chin. Irregular holes around the rim. Wood, dark-brown semi glossy patina. Africa, Ivory Coast, Dan Peoples. Height: 9 5/8" (24,5 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Old insect infestation in some areas (no danger), old and local restoration at forehead and chin (barely visible), otherwise very good condition.

Large wooden helmet mask, with stylized horns alongside the head, small ears, coffee-bean-shaped eyes, long triangular nose, mouth in relief. Remnants of white pigments (kaolin) to represent ritual paint around and under the eyes. On some areas, the mask is covered with textile on which cowries and old glass beads are stitched. Face mask, hair, nose and ears carved in relief, the rest of the features deeply incised, except for the pierced-through mouth which gives the mask a simian expression. Wood, with fine dark-brown glossy patina. Africa, R.D. Congo, Ngbaka Peoples. Height: 10 1/2" (26,5 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Obvious signs of use and age, otherwise very good condition.

Cap mask or headdress carved from wood, covered with antelope skin and with a base of woven basketry for attachment to the head of the masquerade. Two antelope horns are affixed to the top of the mask. Remnants of human hair around the top of the piece. Several holes beneath the upper jaw suggest the former existence of wooden pegs to represent teeth. Africa, Nigeria, Ekoi/Ejagham Peoples, early 20th century, probably older. Face mask of rounded rectangular shape, with protruding large forehead, square pierced through eyes, thin long nose, square pierced through mouth showing teeth, short chin. Irregular holes around rim. Wood, beautiful semi-glossy patina. Eyes and mouth underlined with white pigments, the rest of the mask being coloured with a dark-brown pigment. Africa, R.D. Small ritual cup of rounded shape, with two oval openings. A tiny head has been carved in relief on each side, and each head is framed in an incised geometric design. Large mask, with large forehead, eyebrows in relief, coffee-bean eyes, protruding triangular nose, mouth in relief, large chin. A coiffe is attached around the upper side of the rim; it is composed of feathers on top, surmounting a raffia and wood structure which is meant to cover the dancer's head. Below cheek level, a raffia beard is attached around the lower part of the rim.
