Realistic face mask, pierced through eyes wide open, fine nose, pierced through mouth open and showing teeth, small chin. Wood, with remnants of polychrome pigments. Africa, R.D. Congo, Yombe peoples. Height: 10 1/2" (26 cm). Large chip under chin, erosion all over, otherwise very good condition. A rather unusual piece.

Very old "warka" mask, of elongated triangular shape, with relief forehead and eyes, very long nose, tiny mouth, ending in a pointed chin. Eyes are pierced through. Wood, with greyish patina. Africa, Mali, Bamana Peoples. Height: 14 1/2" (36 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand which enhances its strange beauty. Unusual face mask of elongated shape, round pierced through eyes, long and thin nose, open mouth in relief, small chin. Irregular holes around the rim. Wood, dark-brown semi glossy patina. Africa, Ivory Coast, Dan Peoples. Height: 9 5/8" (24,5 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Old insect infestation in some areas (no danger), old and local restoration at forehead and chin (barely visible), otherwise very good condition.

Superbly carved face mask, with protruding forehead, beautifully enhanced large eyes, fine nose and full lips, ending in a small receding chin. A series of holes of different shapes (circular, square and rectangular) are pierced under the chin (probably to affix a beard) and along the rim. Cap mask or headdress carved from wood, covered with antelope skin and with a base of woven basketry for attachment to the head of the masquerade. Two antelope horns are affixed to the top of the mask. Remnants of human hair around the top of the piece. Several holes beneath the upper jaw suggest the former existence of wooden pegs to represent teeth. Africa, Nigeria, Ekoi/Ejagham Peoples, early 20th century, probably older. Chief sceptre in the shape of a phallus, surmounted by a geometric design, and four heads surrounding a hole at the very top. Wood, with thick dark encrusted patina. Africa, Mali, Bamana Peoples. Height: 9 7/8" (25 cm). The sceptre is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand. A rare piece in very good condition.
