Male figure with large triangular head, long torso with protruding navel and small arms, short legs. Brass rings at ears (one making a long chain), navel and around abdomen. Wood, fine reddish-brown dark patina. Africa, D.R. Congo, Azande Peoples. Height: 9" (22,3 cm). Age crack along the left side of the torso, otherwise very good condition.

Statue of a male character, with a large head, his hands on his abdomen, his legs slightly bent resting on small feet, standing on a rounded base. Wood, with light brown patina, traces of sacrificial material. Africa, Dahomey/Benin Region. Height: 14" (35,5 cm). The statue is mounted on a custom wood stand. Female figure with typical coiffe, large oval eyes, small ears, triangular nose, open mouth showing teeth, cylindrical neck, muscular shoulders and arms, conical breasts, cylindrical abdomen with protruding navel, bent legs resting on small feet. A tenon at the lower back side was used to attach the figure to the reliquary box.
