Celadon colour small ceramic cup with crackled glazing, rounded rim. China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 A.D.). Diameter: 4 7/8" (12,5 cm). Tiny firing defects, otherwise very good condition.

Snuff bottle of classical rounded flat shape, nicely curved neck, decorated with a "tao tie" mask on each shoulder. Peking glass, with a nice ruby colour. Silver stopper with turquoise and coral inserts, spoon missing. China, 19th century, maybe earlier. Height (without stopper): 2 7/8" (7,3 cm). Slight erosion all over, tiny dent on one face (tiny bubble?), otherwise good condition.

SOLD 

Halberd point, horizontal blade, its inverted L-shape back being used for attachment to a wooden staff (now long gone). Archaic characters are still visible on the lower part of the piece (see last photo). Bronze, with partly encrusted green and red patina and traces of blue oxidization. China Warring States Period (475-211 B.C.). Length: 8 1/4" (21 cm). The halberd point is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand that enhances its beauty. Breastplate made of a large central shell surrounded by smaller shells on either side, the whole group attached to a textile narrow belt to the back of which numerous pairs of cauries are also attached. Papua New Guinea, Southern Highlands, early 20th century, maybe earlier. Length (belt): around 37" (92,5 cm). A few side shells maybe missing, otherwise very good condition. Ex. old European collection.

Statue of the God of the North, in formal robes, sitting on a throne, and surmounting his attributes, the tortoise and the snake, hidden in rocks. Opening at the back for votive texts or offerings, lid now gone. Gilt wood. China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 A.D.). Height: 10 1/2" (26,7 cm). Small architectural ornament, carved in the shape of a Garuda, standing under a triangular platform with his wings open. Wood, fine dark patina. Nepal, 18th century, probably earlier. Height: 4 1/8" (10,5 cm). The piece is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Old traces of woodworm work (no danger), large chip on right side of platform, otherwise good condition. Note: in Hindu religion, Garuda is a demigod, half man half eagle, who carries god Vishnu.
