An Uma-Mahesvara group, with Shiva and Parvati seated in embrace and seated on their vehicles Nandi bull and the lion. Bronze, with superb reddish green patina. Western India, circa 11th century. Height: 4 14/16" (12 cm). Small part of right upper side of throne missing (old accident), otherwise very good condition. Provenance: Dr. and Mrs J. LeRoy Davidson, Los Angeles. Small statue of a Hindu goddess (maybe Lakshmi, the wife of Visnu), wearing tiara and dhoti and sitting, with her hands in appeasing posture. Bronze, dark-green patina in the recesses. India, 17th century, maybe earlier. Height: 3 5/8" (9,2 cm). Strong erosion due to its great age, otherwise good condition.
