SOLD 

Statue of Kubera, the God of Wealth and Prosperity, wearing diadem and formal attire, sitting on a dais. The god holds the Buddhist umbrella in his right hand, while he holds the mongoose that spits the jewels in his left hand. The statue is made of gilt copper, with a nice green and reddish patina in the recesses. Tibet, 18th century. Height: 4 7/8" (12,3 cm). Very good condition.

Finely cast phurpa, showing, from top to bottom: three deitiy heads, then a "dorje", then a "makara" head swallowing snakes, surmounting the triple blade. Bronze, dark green patina in the recesses. A copper bowl with sliver inlaid design of five taoist symbols and lotus. The artist signature is beneath. A very unusual and fine piece, dating back to the early 19th century, maybe earlier. Dimensions: height: 1 3/4" (4,5 cm), diameter: 3 3/4" (9,5 cm). The piece is in very good condition, as pictures will show.

Beautifully cast statue of a lama, or maybe an "arhat", in monk's robes, sitting in "bhadrasana" on a squarish throne, holding a small dragon in his hands, while the dragon itself holds the rope of a censer in its mouth. Gilt copper, the eyes and mouth themselves being nicely painted. The whole statue shows very fine details, in the folds of the robe, the dragon, the censer or the face. Tibet, 18th century. Face mask representing the smiling Tudi, or Tudigong, the God of the soil and of cereals, a main character in the traditional esoteric Nuo theater in China. Wood, with numerous layers of polychrome pigments. Holes were pierced through under the nose and around the chin to allow the insertion of small wood pegs to affix animal hair representing the moustache and beard, now partly gone. Lavishly decorated ink pot, resting on a flaring lotus base, with a Hindu deity in relief on each side, and a lizard in relief under the attachment loops, the neck and stopper themselves decorated with lotus and geometric design. A brass chain is attached to the ink pot. Bronze, with fine dark green patina in the recesses. Nepal, 19th century, maybe earlier. Height: 4" (10 cm). Very good condition.
