| Statue of an ancestor ("hampatong") in squatting posture, long head topped by a cap, small ears, long nose, mouth open showing teeth, thin arms alongside thin torso, hands holding knees, large bent legs with no feet, resting on rounded base. Small hole beneath base. Dark-brown wood. Indonesia, Borneo Island, Ngaju or Ot Danum Peoples. Height: 8 3/4" (22,2 cm). Erosion all over, otherwise good condition. A rather unusual figurine from tribes related to the famous Dayak Peoples. | ||||||||
