| Small statue of Tibetan god Kubera, sitting at ease ("lila asana") on a lotus throne, holding a skull top with his right hand and the mangoose that spits jewels with his left hand. Bronze, with fine reddish-green patina. Traces of the original gilding in the recesses. Tibet, 17th century. Height: 1 1/2" (3,8 cm). Very good condition despite erosion and wear due to great age. A very fine casting. Note 1: Kubera is the god of wealth and prosperity in the Tibetan pantheon. Note 2: such tiny statue was meant to be carried in a pouch by its owner. | ||||||||||||
