| A group of sixteen bronze bracelets stuck in a gangue of hardened soil, in the middle of which remains of forearm bones are still caught. This set is sold together with a set of several bracelets and parts of bracelets, made of bronze, coming from the same site and period. This group was found in the Ban Chiang prehistoric site, in Northern Thailand, some 40 years ago. It dates back to the Bronze Age, circa 3500 B.C. It was acquired from an old Chinese collector in Singapore in 1972. Note 1: the Ban Chiang prehistoric site was discovered in 1966. Its archeological diggings allowed the unearthing of exceptional and rare objects, among which bronze pieces of rare beauty and superb terracotta potteries. Note 2: to our knowledge, few publications have been written about the Ban Chiang site. We only know "Ban Chiang: Art and Prehistory of Northeast Thailand" by Armand Labbe, published by the Bowers Museum, Santa Ana, California in 1985. | |||||||||
