| Large helmet mask representing a male head with geometric coiffe, large horizontal ears, relief eyebrows, pierced-through slit eyes, small protruding pierced-through mouth, large beard in relief, thick and short neck, resting on a circular base pierced with large holes all around. Wood, with dark pigment on coiffe, beard and base, and kaolin on the rest of the mask. Africa, Nigeria, Igala Peoples. Height: 15 1/4" (38,5 cm). Obvious signs of use and age, old accidents and chips, otherwise good condition. A rather unusual piece. | |||||||||
