| Trio of statues of Judges of the Underworld, sitting in formal attire. They were finely carved by the same artist. Lacquered and gilt wood, with remnants of black soot in some areas, coming from temple candles. One of the statues has kept its votive "box" closed at the back, while the other two are open. China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Height: around 7 1/2" (19 cm). Each statue is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand. Obvious signs of use and great age, otherwise very good condition. | |||||||||
