| Nicely cast statue of Kuan Yin, the Chinese Goddess of Mercy, in elaborate robes, wearing a diadem on which a tiny representation of Amithaba is sitting at the front, her right hand holding what must have been originally a lotus (now missing) and her left hand holding a cup, sitting cross-legged on a flat circular base. Bronze, with partly encrusted dark-green patina. Traces of the original gilding in the recesses. China, Ming Dynasty Period (1368-1644). Height: 7 1/2" (19 cm). Obvious signs of great age, otherwise excellent condition. A very fine and elaborate casting, particularly the face and the robes. | |||||||||
