| Small relief fragment representing a bust of Buddha. Grey schist. Pakistan, Gandhara Region, graeco-buddhist art, 1st to 3rd century. Dimensions: height: 3 3/8" (8,5 cm), length: 4 1/4" (10,5 cm). The piece is mounted on a custom metal stand. Some erosion, otherwise very good condition. Note: on this relief, like on most reliefs in Gandhara art, Buddha is shown with a moustache, as the Indian tradition believes. A very moving little piece of religious art. | ||||||||
