| Statue of Buddha, wearing monk's robes, in a meditative posture, eyes closed, his face reflecting a profound inner serenity. Votive box at the back, lid missing. Wood, with traces of the original lacquering and gilding. The front of the statue, which was carved on a separate piece of wood, and which represented the hands, legs and feet of the statue, are now missing. China, early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), maybe earlier. Height: 11" (27,5 cm). The statue is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand. Good condition, despite the accidents described above and obvious signs of use and great age. | |||||||||
