| Statue of Buddha Sakyamuni, in monk's robes, his face reflecting a profound inner serenity, his hands in "bhumisparsa mudra" ("taking the Earth as a witness of the veracity of his sayings"), sitting cross-legged. Bronze, with fine green patina. China, Ming Dynasty period (1368-1644). Height: 8 6/8" (22 cm). Small casting flaws at the back and right side (see photos), otherwise very good condition. | |||||||||||||
