| Statue of Buddha Sakyamuni, in monk's robes, his hands in "bhumisparsa mudra" (posture showing Buddha taking the Earth as a witness of the veracity of his sayings), sitting cross-legged on a high lotus throne. Inscriptions at the back of the throne. Embossed silver encasing a resin core. Burma, 19th century. Height: 7" (18 cm). Slight dent at the lower part of the face, top of head partly missing, otherwise very good condition. A very fine piece. Ex. old French collection. | ||||||||
