| Old oliphant, carved at its top in the shape of a king sitting cross-legged on a round stool and holding a scepter with both hands, surmounting two slaves in relief on each side, its back opening in the shape of a mouthpiece, and ending at its base in a large opening. Ivory, with a fine honey coloured patina. Africa, R.D. Congo, Bakongo Peoples, late 19th/early 20th century. Height: 11 1/4" (28,5 cm). The piece is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand.
