| Important incense burner ("boshanlu" in Chinese), of ovoid shape resting on a stemmed base. The censer is decorated on its lid with an openworl design representing mount Boshan of the Taoist paradise, or maybe the three legendary islands Penglai, Fangzhang and Yingzhou, together with several scenes of humans and animals either alone or opposed. The body itself is decorated with an incised geometric design. The base is decorated with an openwork design of intertwined dragons. The whole piece is made of a bronze alloy specific to the Han period, which has a silvery aspect. Beautiful encrusted patina of green, reddish and lapis colour. China, Han Dynasty Period (206 B.C. - 220 A.D.). Height: 7" (17,3 cm). A small crack (no danger) at the base of the lid (see photo), otherwise very good condition. | |||||||||||||||
