Cylinder Seal, Mesopotamia, Ca. 700 B.C.
Cylinder seal carved to represent a man and a chimera standing in front of a king or deity sitting on a throne. White stone. Mesopotamia, Neo-Assyrian period (730-660 B.C.). The seal is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand on which a patinated plaster imprint has been affixed. Erosion, otherwise good condition.
