Mask of the traditional Noh theater representing the character of Obeshimi. Wood, with polychrome painting meant to enhance the features of the face. Japan, end of 19th century. Height: 20.2 cm. A few chips onthe painting, obvious signs of great age, otherwise good condition. NOTE: Obeshimi is used for Noh plays featuring "tengu", mythical demons that defy Buddhist law.

Dome shaped seal with an engraved design representing a horseman. Agate with fine reddish colour. Bactria, Ca. 4th century BC. Height of the dome: 1.9 cm. Diameter of the seal: 1.8 cm. Very good condition.

Wood, with numerous perforations around the top of the forehead, above the eyes and below the nose in order to represent the hair, eyebrows and mustache. The mask was lacquered originally. It suffered an old accident which split it in two from top to bottom, but was restored a long time ago and locally with resin. Rare "Mbangu" deformity mask, showing a distorted face. Wood, with traces of black and white pigments. Africa, Gabon, Pende Peoples. Height: 12" (30 cm). This covered box of a Sawankhalok underglazed black stoneware has an unusual design including six raised bands dividing petal-shaped segments. This type of Sawankhalok ware was produced in Sisatchanelai kilns, Thailand during the fourteenth to fiftheenth centuries. Height: 11 cm. Very good condition. Provenance: Acquired in Singapore in 1990 from MoonGate, owner Mr K. T. Goh, a famous local antique dealer.

Finely carved chief sceptre with a genie sitting on its top, surmounting a squatting ancestor, under which are geometric relief designs leading to the lower part. Wood, with nice glossy patina. Old porcelain ball attached with a small cotton rope to the top of the genie's head. Indonesia, Borneo Island, Dayak ethnic group. Height: 38,.5 cm. The piece is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Very good condition. A rare piece.

Ceremonial hat made of intricately woven, partly dyed in red, cane, decorated with bear fur also dyed in red, feathers and two boar tusks. North India, Naga ethnic group. Height: 27 cm. Obvious signs of age, otherwise very good condition.
