Rare and important head of a bearded centurion wearing his helmet, his face showing a strong and fierce expression. Polychrome wood. Eyes made of glass painted inside. Of Spanish origin, dating back to the 18th century, this head was found in the Philipines in 1978. Height: 30.3 cm. Manjusri is sitting cross-legged on an elevated lotus throne resting on the back of a stylized lion, itself standing on a rounded base. Bronze with dark-green patina. Traces of an original lacquering and gilding. China, early Ming Dynasty. Height: 6 1/4" (16 cm). Tiny part of diadem missing, otherwise very good condition.

Very rare complete skull of an orang-outang, decorated with carved typical geometric designs and with the threatening face of a god or a genie on the forehead. The skull has kept its lower jaw which is attached to it with a sliced bamboo tie. The age patina is beautiful. Indonesia, Borneo Island, Dayak Peoples. Height: around 6 1/2" (about 16,5 cm). Statue of Hindu god Indra, wearing a diadem, large earrings and a loin cloth, sitting in a variation of the virasana posture. He has the typical third eye on his forehead. Sutra book cover carved all over its surface with, in the center, a Bhaisajyaguru Buddha ("The Master of Healing") sitting on a lotus throne in a niche, and Tibetan characters on the rest of the surface.
