Very old betel nut crusher, complete with its sheath. The handle is finely decorated with an elaborate bone sculpture of a bird with the head of an old man, perched on what seems to be foliage. Beautiful age patina. The base of the handle is made of bronze, and the blade is made of iron. The sheath is made of wood. Indonesia, Bali Island, 19th century. Height of the crusher: 23 cm. Height of the sheath: 11 cm. Abrasions due to great age, otherwise very good condition. Provenance: old Dutch collection. An extremely rare object.
