Wood, with large remnants of black and red lacquering, and gilding on face and hands. China, 18th century. Height: 18" (45 cm). Obvious signs of great age, otherwise very good condition.

Pair of plaques in the shape of not entirely identical snarling tigers, with a hole at shoulder level for attachment. Bronze, with red, blue and green partly encrusted patina. China, Han Dynasty Period, Ordos Culture. Length: 3 1/2" and 3 5/8" (8,7 and 9,1 cm). The pair is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. A crack on the smallest piece, otherwise very good condition. A pair of square belt plaques, each with a relief decor of a musician sitting cross-legged on a small platform. Each plaque is backed by a flat unadorned plaque affixed to it by four pins, for attachment to the belt. Bronze, with large remnants of its original gilding and reddish green patina in some areas. Small bowl of rounded shape, carved decoration of stylized lotus petals outside, with a short footring. Celadon, rather thick ceramic, with traces of light brown colour coming from a long stay underground. China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Diameter: 5 3/8" (13,5 cm), height: 1 7/8" (4,8 cm). Slight glaze erosion in some areas around the rim, small chips at base, shape slightly warped, otherwise very good condition.

Realistic and superbly cast statue of a Taoist dignitary, standing in formal attire, holding an archaic vessel with both hands, with a slight smile on his face. Bronze, encrusted patina, traces of gilding in some recesses. China, Qing Dynasty, early 18th century, probably earlier. Height: 7" (17,7 cm). Statue of Zhen Wu, or Xuan Wu, the God of the North, in formal attire, sitting on a rocky throne, under which his two attributes --- the snake and the tortoise --- are hiding, his right arm resting on a chimera. Wood, with remnants of the original lacquering and gilding. Black glass eyes. China, Ming Dynasty. Height: 10 1/2" (26,7 cm). Good condition.

Jar with a bulbous body and a flaring neck. Ceramic, with an unusual reddish glaze (most similar jars of this period are green color). Remnants of soil encrustations. China, Han Dynasty Period (206 BC - 220 AD). Height: 7" (17,7 cm). Small chips around neck and base, otherwise very good condition. Ex. Old French collection.

Statue of a Taoist deity, in formal attire, standing on a rectangular base on which a chimera or a dog is carved in relief. Two votive boxes, their lids missing, at the back. Wood, nice semi-glossy patina. China, Ming Dynasty period. Height: 12 1/2" (32 cm). The statue is mounted on a custom wood stand. Some loss at the base, chips, otherwise very good condition.

Rectangular shaped belt buckle beautifully carved in relief to represent a dragon "chasing the pearl". Two loops (one missing) at the back for attachment to the belt. Nicely patinated ivory. Length: 1 7/8" (4,7 cm). Erosion, a few chips, otherwise good condition.

Ancient censer, of circular shape, resting on three feet, decorated on all sides with dragons in relief "chasing the pearl" and, on two sides, with dragon heads. Bronze, fine green patina. Reign mark beneath, probably apocryphal (Ming Dynasty, Xuande reign). China, early 19th century. Height: 3 1/4" (8,5 cm). Diameter: 5 4/8" (14,5 cm). Very good condition.

Old Incense burner of circular shape resting on three feet, decorated on all sides with dragons in relief. The two handles are in the shape of agressive dragons. Bronze, with green patina in the recesses. Reign mark beneath, probably apocryphal (Ming Dynasty, Xuande reign). China, 19th century. Height: 3 3/8" (8,7 cm). Diameter: 5 7/8" (15 cm). Small statue of Kuan Yin, in formal attire, sitting in "rajalila asana" (king's posture) on a highly stylized lion, itself resting on a lotus base. Bronze, with large remnants of lacquering and gold paint, nice green patina. China, early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Height: 6 1/4" (15,8 cm). Chip at the back of the base, small loss on the diadem, otherwise very good condition. A truly beautiful casting.

Statue of God Chao Kung Ming, the Military Wealth God, dressed in military garb, half sitting on a throne, his left hand holding a coin, his left foot tramping the head of a dragon, his right leg resting on a lion. Votive box open at the back and still containing a paper. Lacquered and painted wood in gold and polychrome colors. China, 18th century. Height: 8 3/4" (22,2 cm). Old insect infestation (no danger), otherwise very good condition.

Opium lamp inserted in a sort of cylindrical cage. A chain attached to the top of the cage allows an easy transportation of the lamp. The lamp can entirely be taken to pieces (see photo). Brass and glass. China, 19th century. Height: 6 5/8" (17 cm). Very good condition.

Statue of God Hung Hsien Tati, a protector, also called The Great Emperor, The Immortal, in military garb, holding a bowl in his left hand. He was probably holding a sword in his right hand, but the sword is now missing. The god's right foot is resting on his tiger, while his left foot is resting on a dragon. Votive box (open) at the back. Polychrome wood. China, 19th century. Height: 14 1/4" (36 cm). Good condition.

Mask of the "Nuo" esoteric theater representing the character of Heshang, the Buddhist monk, with very expressive features. The mask was carved on wood, then paper was affixed all over its surface, on which polychrome pigments were painted. China, early 19th century, probably earlier. Height: 9 13/16" (25 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Paper partly flaked, and consequently the colors, otherwise very good condition.

A fine pair of small baluster shaped porcelain vases, with a painted blue decor on white background of two dragons chasing the flaming pearl among clouds. Kangxi reign mark beneath. China, Qing Dynasty period. Height: 7" and 7 1/8" (17,6 and 18 cm). Old and very fine restoration around the neck of one of the vases (see photos), otherwise very good condition. Two votive boxes at the back, both with missing lid. China, Ming Dynasty period. The statue is mounted on a stand. height (without stand): 31,5 cm. A few missing parts at the lower side of the base and at the back of the head, with no real damage to the general aspect of the statue, otherwise very good condition.

Small figurine representing Kuan Yin, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, in formal attire and wearing elaborate diadem and necklaces, sitting cross-legged on an elevated throne around which reclining lions are showing. Bronze, with dark reddish-green patina. China, Northern Wei or Sui Dynasty. Height: 2 3/4" (7 cm). Strong erosion due to great age, right hand partly chipped (old accident) otherwise good condition. An extremely rare object.

Statue of Xuan Wu, or Zhen Wu, God of the North, in formal attire, sitting on a throne, with his two attributes, the snake and the tortoise. Wood with polychrome painting. Porcelain cup with curved sides, with a hand painted blue decor on a white background representing a landscape showing on the left side a rocky lakeshore with two old men sitting under a gnarled tree, and the right side a fisherman rowing on a boat. Above the scenery, a four line inscription. Two character mark beneath. The rim is protected by a bronze circle, but this is not meant to hide any blemish. China, Qing Dynasty. Height: 3,3 cm.
