Small screen of rectangular shape, with an engraved decor of foliage and flowers. Slightly mottled jade. The screen is resting on an elaborated wood stand. China, 19th century. Height of the screen: 8 cm. Total height including the stand: 12.5 cm. Very good condition.

Snuff bottle of flat circular form, the body itself made of ivory. The bottle has a silver neck with an intricate decoration affixing it to the body. A fine cricket cage, composed of a body made from a gourd and a rim and lid made of ivory. The lid itself is nicely carved to represent a lotus and foliage around surmounting an openwork geometric design. Its silk case, partly damaged, is joined to the cage. China, 19th century. Large bronze bracelet of flat shape decorated on one side with several geometric designs inside which are remnants of silver inlays, and on the other side with a series of squarish incised geometric designs which must have contained silver inlays, now gone. Philippines Archipelago, Mindanao Island, 19th century, maybe earlier. Diameter: 4 7/8" (12,5 cm). A small dent on the outer rim, otherwise good condition. Collected in the Philippines in 1978. Finely cast statue of Bodhisattva Manjusri, in formal attire, his face showing a half smile, sitting in "rajalila asana" on a chimera or highly stylized lion, both resting on an elevated lotus throne. China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Height: 9 1/8" (23,3 cm). Iron, with partly encrusted patina. Obvious signs of great age, strong oxydization in some areas, otherwise very good condition. A very fine statue. NOTE: "rajalila asana" is the king's posture. It is sometimes used on bodhisattvas statues....

Round shaped beer jug, resting on rectangular flaring base. Iron, with a brass frame around the sides and the base. Traces of original gilding in the center. Central recessed area shows a "shou" incised symbol. This area is surrounded by incised foliate design on the jug body. Tibet, 19th century, maybe earlier. Height: 14 1/2" (36,5 cm). Heavy oxydization, frame partly missing around base (see photo), a few dents, otherwise good condition.

Five-tier inro made of paulownia decorated with a red and black lacquer design of chrysanthemums, with remnants of the original gilding. wood ojime in the shape of a human skull, simple wood netsuke carved in to a circle. Large Widekum mask, of typical form, carved in relief, with an unusual cap, pointed scarifications, slit eyes, small nose, open rectangular mouth showing teeth, protruding chin. The mask is made in wood covered with animal skin. Cameroon, Upper Cross River, West Grassland region. Height: 47 cm. The mask is mounted on a custom stand. Good condition despite slight abrasion due to age. Provenance: old French Provincial collection, acquired in situ early 20th century.

Embossed pendant decorated with two figures of deities, one male wearing a dhoti and the other, a female, entirely naked, each with an aureola, standing in front of what seems to be an altar. The pages are written recto/verso, in Pali script lacquered with black tamarind seed on a gilt background and illuminations. Beautifully carved relief fragment representing the head of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, wearing a diadem on which appears a small Buddha Amithaba in meditation sitting on a lotus throne and surrounded by foliage. Statue of Duowen Tian Wang, the Heavenly King of the North, elaborately dressed, wearing a diadem, holding the end of a ribbon with his left hand and a Buddhist scepter resting on a lotus in his right hand. The statue is standing on an square pedestal. The piece was originally lacquered, painted and gilt. Part of the lacquering is flaked, revealing the bronze oxydation. The statue was cast in China during the early Qing Dynasty, in the 18th century. Height: 37 cm. Very good condition.

Realistic and superbly cast statue of a Taoist dignitary, standing in formal attire, holding an archaic vessel with both hands, with a slight smile on his face. Statue of Hindu god Indra, wearing a diadem, large earrings and a loin cloth, sitting in a variation of the virasana posture. He has the typical third eye on his forehead. His face reflects a profound inner serenity. The statue is made of gilt bronze, with a nice age patina and remnants of ritual material on the face. Nepal, early 19th century. Height: 24.5 cm. Important embossed high content (+800) silver bowl, superbly decorated with detailed legendary/religious characters in niches all around the body, surrounded and surmounted by foliage design and resting on a stylised lotus decor.
