Rare, beautifully carved lime press for the betel nut, representing a female figurine standing on a rounded point, with her hands in front of her abdomen. Buffalo bone, with fine honey-colored patina. Indonesia, Sumatra Island, Batak Peoples. Height: 6" (15,2 cm). The piece is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Very good condition.

Very old betel nut crusher, complete with its sheath. The handle is finely decorated with an elaborate bone sculpture of a bird with the head of an old man, perched on what seems to be foliage. Beautiful age patina. The base of the handle is made of bronze, and the blade is made of iron. The sheath is made of wood. Indonesia, Bali Island, 19th century. Height of the crusher: 23 cm. Height of the sheath: 11 cm. Abrasions due to great age, otherwise very good condition...
